Factory rebuild kits:  Extensive inventory of genuine factory re-cone kits available for the following PA brands:  Celestion, Peavy,  SWR, 10 inch  to 18 inch.

Surrounded!  We specialize in the replacement of the foam surrounds commonly used in woofers and midrange speaker drivers.  Wide selection in stock for quick turn-around (typically one to three days if we have surrounds in stock).  Rubber surrounds available too.

The surround is the flexible ring between the cone and the frame of the drive unit.  Over time, and especially if exposed to sunlight, the foam breaks down and eventually crumbles.

When this happens the speaker no longer functions properly, and the surrounds must be replaced.  Note: using speakers with decayed surrounds may damage the voice coil!

Even if the surround in just one speaker of a stereo pair has failed, it is advisable to replace both at the same time, as the other will soon also fail.  The cost to replace the foam surrounds on a pair of drivers starts at just $60.  Drivers will be thoroughly inspected and tested, and any problems (such as saggng spiders) notified.

The new surround shown below is a special high-compliance part for Acoustic Research speakers; don't accept inferior replacements!

Blown speaker? Rebuild it!  We have access to an extensive range of the component parts required to fully rebuild damaged drive units.

Typical problems with speaker drive units that have been abused or failed due to age usually involve the voice coil, which is the “engine” of a drive unit.

The voice coil may be overheated, causing it to go open–circuit or rub on the pole-piece.  Sometimes the joint between the voice coil and the cone can fail.

Drivers are rebuilt with high quality voice coils and new suspension membranes carefully chosen to allow the drive unit to regain its original performance.

Cracked polypropylene cones can be replaced with superior woven Kevlar cones (e.g Mission speakers with clear cones).

We can perform cost-effective upgrades to most speaker systems.

It is an unfortunate reality that in a fiercely competitive market, loudspeaker manufacturers, particularly those at the high-volume end, put the money where it can be seen, i.e the cabinet finish or the drive units.

Very often, the parts hidden around the back and inside are made as cheaply as possible.

Compromise here can seriously limit the performance of the speaker.

Fortunately, upgrading items such as crossover capacitors, input terminals, and internal wiring is usually possible and effective.

Certainly cheaper than buying new speakers!

We stock high quality Bennic and Solen polypropylene capacitors, and use high quality OFC/Teflon insulated cable for internal re-wiring.

We can make to order speaker and interconnect cables of virtually any length and configuration, using Mogami professional cable and high quality terminations to suit the application.  DIN to DIN or DIN-RCA interconnects for Naim amplifiers are a popular upgrade (at 1/10th the price of a Hi Line!)

Cables are vital to the performance of an audio system.  Mogami cables are a Pro-sector product devoid of snake-oil, flexible and discrete.
